Sal Randazzese Recognized for Outstanding Service
Excellence in Recreational Programming and Leadership Award 2012

Mr. Randazzese was hired in March 1979 as the part-time director of the Flemington-Raritan Parks and Recreation Committee. At that time the only recreational offerings in the community were baseball and football. During his tenure he initiated both financially and organizationally the following:

Comprehensive youth soccer program

Recreational Basketball

Easter egg hunt

Halloween parade

July 4th Fireworks

Fun at Four

Adult basketball men and women

Adult volleyball men and women

Ski Club

Senior Citizen bus trips, luncheons, bocce, square dancing

An extensive summer playground program which involves 800 participants

Mini-programs conducted after school and during the summer
Mr. Randazzese filled a community need for a summer enrichment program for the special education students. Thais program was recognized by Hunterdon County with an award in 2002. Under his direction and encouragement the Flemington-Raritan communities have built four active parks and one 52 acre nature presence.
Presently, he is initiating the completion of the greenway which will connect the parks. Mr. Randazzese is also partnering with local schools to offer academic courses in the summer and he is overseeing the construction of an outdoor classroom in the Morales Nature Preserve. The director recognizes the fact that he has not met success alone.
When asked what is he most proud of he talks about his “secret army of volunteers and employees.” This group includes seasonal workers, service organizations, P.T.O, Police, Fire, Board of Education, Scouts, The Recreation Committee, and area businesses. All of whom he partners with to make the impossible- possible.
Mr. Randazzese could not conduct business without the steady hand of Mrs. Claudia Jursik, assistant, secretary, bookkeeper, confidant, advisor, etc. This man appreciates all that God has given him especially his wife Frances who understands and supports his role in the community as the recreation director as well as the 40 years he spent in education. With her at his side, he is most grateful.

Summer Intersession 2012
Preparation Day for all staff will be held on June 27th at your respected site. The day will begin promptly at 9:00 and end at 12:00.
Camp will run from June 28th through July 27th. Recreation will be closed on July 4th to celebrate the holiday!!
