SUMMER PROGRAM OFFERINGS
AND IMPORTANT INFORMATION
REGARDING THE SUMMER INTERSESSION PROGRAM 2010

Dear Parents:

The Flemington-Raritan Parks & Recreation Committee would like to announce that we are starting to update our website with our programs for the summer of 2010 – www.flemingtonraritanparks.org. In an effort to “go green”, we no longer send correspondence home through the schools regarding our programs. All of our program offerings will be available to download from our website as soon as they are available.

Below is a list of the program brochures that are presently available or will be available through our website:

  • Summer Intersession/Fun at Four – July 1 – July 30, 2010 – Brochure currently available to download.
  • Junior Counselor Applications (must have completed 6th grade to be eligible) – June 30 – July 30, 2010 – Application available to download
  • Trip to Museum of Natural History – Wednesday, April 7, 2010 (54 seats available)
  • Summer Fun at Copper Hill – dates TBA
  • Comic Book Camp - July 2010 – exact dates TBA
  • Cooking – Five Sessions – June 28-July 30, 2010 (Grades 1-8) – exact dates TBA
  • Fun in the Park – Two sessions (a.m. & p.m.) – June 22-25, 2010
  • Fireworks display to be held at RFIS on July 3, 2010, Rain Date July 5, 2010
  • Tennis – dates TBA

COOKING FOR KIDS GRADES 5-8

PLEASE NOTE: For the Cooking Classes . . signup for grades completed in June, not grades you are attending in September (i.e. Grades 1-4 - Must have completed Grades 1-4 in June, Grades 5-8 - Must have completed Grades 5-8 in June).  Thank You!

This program is designed to teach kids that learning how to cook can be a fun and useful experience.  Our cooking program will focus on how to prepare breakfast dishes, lunches, quick-fix dinners, and desserts. This hands-on training will include all safety rules needed to work in a kitchen. Each child will experience working alongside an adult using kitchen appliances and a variety of utensils. Students will be taught how to read and understand cooking terminology (measuring, cutting, blending, and serving). Lunch will be prepared daily using methods listed above and each child will have the opportunity to eat and enjoy what they have prepared.

Where:        JP Case School Cooking Room (use back entrance)

When: Sessions run from 9:00am to 12:30pm.
Session dates listed below; Lunch is provided each day.

Who: Flemington-Raritan Students, grades 5-8

How much: $130.00  = 5 day session             $104.00  = 4 day session

Facilitator: Mr. Jake Schuddeboom, 4th Grade Teacher at Copper Hill School
Minimum: 14 Students                 Maximum: 22 Students
